Diamond bracelets are a wonderful choice of jewellery that can be purchased as a treat for yourself or as a gift for a friend, relative, or loved one. Indeed, they can make fantastic gifts for milestone birthdays or events such as a graduation. However, have you considered purchasing an item of jewellery from a collection of pre-owned diamond bracelets?

Choosing A Pre Owned Diamond Bracelet

There are many reasons why people may choose to purchase a diamond bracelet. They can be beautiful pieces of jewellery to wear for special occasions, such as weddings or other important events. However, they can also make fantastic gifts for milestone anniversaries. For example, you could choose to purchase a diamond bracelet that also includes sapphires to give to your partner to celebrate 45 years of marriage.

Why Choose A Second-Hand Item Of Jewellery?

There are many reasons why people choose to purchase second-hand items of jewellery instead of purchasing for a new item. One such reason is price, as often second-hand items can be cheaper than new jewellery. However, price is not the only reason why some people choose to purchase pre-owned jewellery. Another example is style. If your partner, relative, or friend etc. enjoys jewellery in vintage styles from the 20th century, perhaps you could find some wonderful pieces in interesting vintage styles by browsing through items of second-hand jewellery.

Additionally, if you browse through a collection of pre-owned jewellery, you may even find a unique one-of-a-kind item! However, if you decide to purchase items of second-hand diamond jewellery, it is very important that you visit a reputable jeweller such as Mallard Jewellers.

Pre-Owned Diamond Bracelets - Remember The 4 Cs

When purchasing any item of jewellery that includes diamonds, it is very important that you consider the 4 Cs.

The 4 Cs are used to determine value in a diamond and are, Clarity, Carat, Colour, and Cut. If you require assistance with choosing a diamond bracelet, please visit your local Mallard Jewellers branch and our friendly team will be happy to help.

Clarity
When people talk about a diamond’s purity, this is in reference to the clarity of the diamond.

After being examined under magnification for flaws (this includes both flaws located inside the diamond and on the diamond), the diamond is then graded on its clarity. This means that a clarity grade depends on the flaws that are present both on and inside the diamond. If a flaw is found inside the diamond, it is called an inclusion, whereas flaws which are found on the outside of a diamond are known as blemishes.

If a diamond has no visible inclusions or blemishes when viewed at 10x magnification, it is graded FL, which means that the diamond is considered flawless. However, a diamond with the highest level of flaws would be known as I3.

Carat
The carat of a diamond refers to the weight of the diamond. A carat (0.2grams) is split into 100 points and as such a ½ carat diamond could be referred to as a 50point or a 0.50 carat diamond.

Colour
The colour of a diamond is ranked on a scale from D to Z, with D being the most valuable and Z the least valuable.
However, this scale only applies to colourless diamonds. There are a wide variety of different colours of diamonds in addition to colourless, some of which are blue, red, pink, green, and brown.

Cut
A diamond can be cut in many different ways. For example, a round cut.
A round cut diamond has a high level of fire and brilliance. Fire is the ‘rainbow’ of colour you see in a diamond’s sparkle as light is broken down by the diamond, whereas brilliance is the colourless light that is reflected outwards from the diamond.

The round cut is but one of many, indeed there are numerous different diamond cuts that you could choose from, such as: a baguette cut, a princess cut, a marquise cut, a cushion cut, an emerald cut, an asscher cut, and many more!
